I'm Camilo Martinez, a passionate artist who made the leap from the corporate world to focus on family and mental health. Years of unattended burnout took a toll on my well-being.
Art saved my life during this healing process, becoming a means to communicate the pain within when I felt I had lost my voice. Surprisingly, my art became the voice that echoed my truth.
When I transitioned to full-time artistic pursuits, my music studio naturally transformed into an art haven, boasting over 100 pieces adorning its walls.
But life threw a curveball my way just a month into this new journey. A devastating fire razed my beloved studio, consuming all my music equipment and artwork in its unforgiving flames.
From those ashes, however, arose a chance for a fresh start.
As a mental health advocate, I use my Joe Hueso character, and alter ego, to heighten awareness about burnout, and depression.
My art serves as a means to heal and communicate messages of hope and resilience, offering support in the midst of challenges and adversity.
Throughout the last three years, Camilo Martinez and Funkydisonante Studio have been steadfast in supporting education.
We have contributed artwork to various non-profits in the USA and Colombia, including the Beaux Museum of Arts, Les Couleurs Charity, Mindo Futures, and Peace and Hope for the Children of Colombia, among others.
As a father of two, a pivotal aspect of my mission involves utilizing art as a catalyst to inspire children to wholeheartedly embrace education and leverage their knowledge for positive global change.
In addition, I organize activities that involve painting and artistic expression to elevate self-esteem in children, showcasing their masterpieces as a celebration of their creativity and potential.
