Medium: Giclée Print on Fine Art Paper
Series: Troopertinas
A group held in formation, yet each figure carries a distinct presence. The bodies are fluid, expressive, almost celebratory — while the masks remain fixed, neutral, and identical.
Posing Troopertinas explores the contrast between external control and internal freedom. The stance suggests confidence, performance, and awareness of being seen. At the same time, the repeated masks flatten identity, reducing individuality to a uniform surface.
The composition moves between unity and fragmentation. The figures lean into each other, connected, but not fully revealed. What is shared is posture. What is withheld is self.
Color plays a critical role. The warmth of the bodies pushes forward, alive and immediate, while the cooler background recedes, creating separation between presence and environment. The yellow garments act as a subtle thread — linking the figures while reinforcing their constructed roles.
This work reflects the act of presenting oneself to the world — composed, arranged, and controlled — while something more complex remains beneath.
In the Troopertinas universe, identity is never fully removed from the mask. It is negotiated through it.
